Caquelon

2022

Silver-plated copper, bronze and steel

When I was a child, my grandpa gave my parents a caquelon, a cooking vessel specially designed to be used for cooking, heating and serving fondue. He’s from Switzerland, and eating cheese fondue is a huge tradition there. I have always loved the concept. Bringing the caquelon to the table, choosing a specific fork (they were color coded) and eating directly from the vessel when it’s still heating. The social act of it.

My forks have different forms instead of colors, the handles are solid and therefore heavy. The visuals are inspired by the melty cheese forms. It almost looks like the vessels are moving, and they become a part of the gathering.
